Uniservitate Award 2026

Solidarity Service-Learning in Catholic Higher Education

The Uniservitate Award is a global recognition of the best solidarity service-learning experiences in Catholic Higher Education. It is based on the assertion of the Global Compact on Education: “The true service of education is education to service”. In addition, this edition will include a special prize, also for each region, to recognise the best institutional service-learning programmes.

As the Award seeks to recognise advances in the institutionalisation of service-learning, specific consideration will be given to programmes that integrate projects and experiences developed over the years and demonstrate the incorporation of service-learning into institutional policies and the mission of CHEIs.

The Award is open to Catholic Higher Education Institutions (CHEIs), university and non-university, with experience in projects, projects, practices, courses or institutional programmes of solidarity service which include the community, with the students as active leaders, and is deliberately integrated with the curriculum contents and research programmes. Deadline: April 10th 2026.

The Award is organized every two years and is endowed with a sum of 84,000 euros distributed in prizes and special mentions in each of the seven regions comprising Uniservitate. The first prizes will include recognition for a coordinating teacher and a student, who will receive a full grant to participate in the VII Uniservitate Symposium to be held in Rome in October 2026.

The selection of the winning experiences is conducted through a rigorous process with several instances and juries internationally renowned.

In this edition, GivePulse joins the Uniservitate initiative to work together to strengthen the service-learning community worldwide.

The Award objectives are the following:

  • To recognise and give visibility to quality Solidarity-Service Learning (SSL) experiences that combine teaching, research, and social outreach in line with the main mission of the CHEIs.
  • To recognise students and teachers who are aware of community needs and committed to building a more just, fraternal, and supportive society.
  • To recognise and give visibility to the CHEIs that best integrate students’ academic learning with solidarity service to the community.
  • To contribute to the promotion of good practices, for their replication throughout the system and their mass dissemination.
  • To enrich the field of knowledge of SSL, its institutionalisation, and its integration with the transformative spiritual dimension.
