A Digital Book That Allows You To Recreate the IV Uniservitate Global Symposium 2023

The Uniservitate Collection has added a publication that contributes to the development of the theoretical and practical field of AYSS in general and Catholic higher education in particular. A new digital book has been added to the repository of this global network, recreating the IV Uniservitate Global Symposium, held in November 2023 at De La Salle University in Manila (Philippines) with the theme ‘Transformative Service-Learning: Cultivating Student Leadership, Community Partnerships and Spiritual Reflection for Social Change’.
The volume reproduces the presentations and compiles the opening speeches, plenary session, panel discussions, student testimonials, and reactions and conclusions from the meeting, which brought together 500 participants from 42 countries. The publication also includes 31 complete papers related to the three central themes of the symposium: student leadership, community partnerships, and the spirituality of service. Each panel offers access to presentations and video recordings, also available on the CLAYSS YouTube channel.
The book brings together a wealth of reflections from international leaders, students, graduates and community partners, and contributes to the theoretical and practical development of service-learning in Catholic higher education.
During the symposium, Pope Francis addressed the participants and encouraged them to promote a comprehensive education that articulates ‘the languages of the head, the heart and the hands,’ emphasising the importance of the spiritual dimension and creative and holistic educational approaches that shape young people as agents of social change.
In their introduction, María Rosa Tapia and Andrés Peregalli, coordinator and vice coordinator of Uniservitate, encourage readers to ‘enjoy, use and disseminate the content of these proceedings and the Uniservitate collection in general, in order to continue strengthening and achieving comprehensive education that provides experiences of transformative spirituality for social change.’
The Uniservitate Collection, promoted by CLAYSS in collaboration with Porticus, thus continues to strengthen a multicultural publishing space that offers, in several languages, key resources for education in the service of the common good.
