In October and November, the first two virtual meetings of the Uniservitate Membership programme were held, offering resources to introduce new members to some basic concepts of service-learning and how to accompany the transition between related pedagogical practices such as university extension and, among others, university social responsibility.<\/p>\n

In the first webinar some 60 students, teachers and leaders of service-learning teams in Catholic universities from different continents spoke with Nieves Tapia, director of this Programme and founder of CLAYSS, and were introduced to one of the courses to which Uniservitate members have access in English and Spanish, \u201cEducation for transformation: the service-learning approach.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tapia provided the participants with valuable suggestions for the implementation of service-learning and answered questions on different aspects of these practices with examples of experiences from different parts of the world. Jorge Sosa Rol\u00f3n from CLAYSS also described the structure, content and resources available in the course, which participants are invited to develop in a self-supporting way.<\/p>\n

The dialogue initiated on that occasion was continued in a second webinar in November, \u201cProjecting Change: challenges in designing service-learning experiences\u201d. It reviewed the fundamental concepts of solidarity service-learning and focused on linking service actions with pedagogical and spiritual formation objectives.<\/p>\n

Based on these first experiences, in which mutual enrichment prevailed through dialogue and the sharing of the steps taken, doubts and concerns generated by the service-learning practices, the Membership Coordinator, Paula Bas\u00edlico, anticipated that meetings of this type will continue during 2025.<\/p>\n
