From 17th to 23rd November, CLAYSS was present at the 4th Service-Learning Conference: « Universidad y comunidad construyendo bien común [University and community building the common good] » hosted by the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. In this context, the onsite meeting of the Latin American Hub of the Uniservitate Programme was also celebrated. CLAYSS team travelled to the neighbouring country to participate in both events and visited different faculties of the University of Chile, where they learned about valuable SL projects and was part of several meetings with faculty members.
They also visited the CEDOC, Centro de Desarrollo Docente [Teaching Development Centre], which coordinates pedagogical innovation and service-learning projects at the university. The team of the University of Chile generously shared with the Latin American delegation the CEDOC training proposals, especially the Diploma in University Teaching and the multiple resources and their mechanisms available regarding the promotion of the SL pedagogical proposal. In turn, the participants took part in different opportunities to discuss topics, such as early evaluation of courses, technical advice, SL implementation model at the university, discussion workshop on service-learning and field visits to celebrate the end of the SL courses.
María Rosa Tapia, coordinator of the UNISERVITATE Programme, and Angeles Soletic, CLAYSS Training Coordinator, shared a work session with Fernando Purcell Torretti, academic vice-rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, Chantal Jouannet Valderrama, director of the Centre for Teaching Development, and Manuel Caire, head of Training for Public Engagement at the University of Chile. They discussed the progress made by UNISERVITATE and planned how to continue and strengthen the programme in its second stage.
