Representatives of the Uniservitate coordination will participate in the XI Assembly of the Marist International Network of Higher Education from 28th April to 2nd May in Rome. This assembly brings together approximately seventy institutions worldwide.
The initiative results from the strengthened relationship between CLAYSS-Uniservitate and the Congregation of the Marist Brothers, through various actions, particularly over the past year. For example, in January and February, María Rosa Tapia and Andrés Peregalli, Uniservitate coordinator and vice-coordinator respectively, held online meetings with Marcelo Bonhemberger and João Fett, president and executive secretary respectively of the Marist International Network. It should be noted that the PUCPR (Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná, Brazil, a Marist institution) is already a member of the Uniservitate programme.
One of the objectives of the second stage of the Uniservitate programme (2023-2026) is to strengthen the link with the Salesian and Lasallian religious congregations and the Jesuit Order, in addition to the Marists. This objective is implemented through specific agreements and conventions.
‘The coordination with the religious congregations aims to strengthen the idea presented in the Global Compact on Education, that the solidarity service-learning pedagogy is a way to make holistic education a reality. We want to support the institutions that are already implementing service-learniEichstätt-Ingolstadtng and reinforce these processes, as well as adding to the Uniservitate network institutions that are not yet aware of it or do not have it specifically developed,’ said Andrés Peregalli, Uniservitate vice-coordinator.
