Universitate’s main international event will be in Rome on 7th and 8th November. LUMSA University will host the V Global Symposium in that city, bringing together students, educators, educational authorities, community partners and service-learning specialists.
The Uniservitate coordination is working with the LUMSA team and the Dicastery for Culture and Education of the Holy See to determine all the organizational aspects of the event. Furthermore, they are jointly working with the rectors of the supported universities and the members of the Uniservitate Academic Sounding Board to establish the agenda to help meet the programme objectives and contribute to a holistic education like the one that Pope Francis and the Church suggest, i.e. uniting the head, the heart and the hands based on the service-learning approach.
Within the framework of the Symposium, a third meeting will be held with authorities from the universities accompanied by Uniservitate. It will be an opportunity to share experiences, views, challenges and achievements among peers.
On Saturday morning, 9th November, Uniservitate representatives and the young students winners of the Uniservitate Award 2024 will be able to participate in a private Audience with Pope Francis.
Previous editions. The first two editions of the Uniservitate Global Symposium, in 2020 and 2021, were held online given the restrictions imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2020, the aim of the Symposium was the presentation of the programme and in 2021, organized in partnership with the Portuguese Catholic University, it focused on spirituality. In 2022, the III Symposium was held in person at LUMSA, in Rome (Italy), with a live streaming on YouTube and in adhesion to the Global Compact on Education. With the same modality, the De La Salle University hosted the IV Symposium in Manila (Philippines) in 2023. It focused on the service-learning programme features, youth protagonism, curriculum insertion and problem resolution with community partners.
On the Uniservitate website, you can recall those days and meet the protagonists of the initiatives, their research and reflections on a new development model in which reciprocal learning and fraternity are possible.
