Catholic Higher Education Institutions around the world can still submit their solidarity initiatives to the Uniservitate Award 2022, as the deadline for submissions has been extended until Monday 9th May. The aim is to reward the best educational experiences of service-learning, which integrate academic learning and concrete actions of service to the community. In this first edition, the Uniservitate Award will distribute a total of 84,000 euros to give continuity to the projects or to initiate others. In addition, the winners will be offered the opportunity to travel to Rome on the occasion of the III Uniservitate Symposium, which will take place between October 26 and 30.
The Uniservitate Award 2022 is an international recognition for good practices that contribute to the comprehensive education of students as responsible citizens, critical, creative, and transformative players of society. On this matter, the director of Uniservitate, María Nieves Tapia, said: “More and more the university is asked to train not only the mind but also the heart and the hands, as the Pope always repeats us so.” And the fact is that these awards want to support the concern of Pope Francis regarding the education of young people as an agent of change. That is also why Uniservitate adheres to the Global Compact on Education, an initiative through which the Holy Father invites the different social actors to commit themselves to the education of the new generations in order to give way to discerning people at the service of their communities.
The Uniservitate Award 2022 is aimed at a wide range of service-learning experiences, such as all activities related to civic engagement, university social responsibility, or research with social impact. Initiatives developed within the framework of pastoral ministry or university volunteering are also eligible.
